The former local Penwith District Council and five other district councils merged with Cornwall Council on 1 April 2009, meaning planning matters and funding matters are now decided much further away by primarily non-local councillors meeting in the county capital, Truro.

There is also a Porthcurno Residents' Association at pkrassoc.org which meets to discuss and act on matters of interest to all Porthcurno local residents.

Emergency Services

In a real emergency just dial 999 and you will be asked if you want Fire, Police, Ambulance or Coastguard (sea rescue). Dialling 112 will also work just as well.
