Once it leaves Penzance, this ride follows back roads and lanes to Hayle.At one point there is a short off-road section which is not too demanding. There is along, but manageable, climb up from Relubbus to Fraddam through delightful wooded countryside. When it reaches Hayle,the route swings in a loop past Copperhouse Pool, affording fine views ofHayle and giving some impression of its former importance as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution in Cornwall. The ride returns through sheltered farming country and descends to Marazion with wide views across Mount's Bay towards St. Michael's Mount. Refreshment opportunities are available at Gwinear, Hayle, St. Erth and Marazion.
Start: Jubilee Pool, Penzance.
Proceed east along waterfront. At Pedestrian traffic lights take right handlane (with great care) and bear right around the one—way system. Revert to left lane and take A30 out of Penzance. At Tesco roundabout take 2nd exit and immediately turn right into Heliport Link Road parallel with A30. After 325 yds turn left signed Gulval. Continue uphill to Gulval Church. Turn right for Crowlas and the busy A30. Using the Pedestrian Controlled crossing, some 200 yds to the left, cross over into Rospeath Lane. Continue along lane, passing over both rail and river bridges and turn left signed St. Erth. After 275 yds turn right into Truthall Industrial Estate. Left after buildings and onto Old Mine Track.
Continue on track for 1.1/4 miles to metalled road. Turn right to B3280.Turn left to Relubbus, take second left, continue for 1.3/4 miles to ’T’junction.
Turn left and next right signed Fraddam. At Fraddam cross ahead overB3302 to Reawla, continue to take a left turn signed Gwinear. Turn left at ’T’ junction, pass through Gwinear and continue following signs to Hayle.Turn right shortly after entering Hayle into Black Road and ride around edge of Copperhouse Pool. Turn left at end of pool and cross old lock gates to return to main B3301. Turn right and continue to Foundry Square. Take B3302 signed Leedstown, climb away from Hayle and on outskirts take a right turn just before the bypass flyover into Water Lane. Descend to ‘T’ junction and turn left to St. Erth.
At St. Erth, turn right and continue for approx. 3 miles to a ’T’junction. Turn left for Marazion. Pass under bypass and turn right up steep hill. From top, descend to Marazion town centre.
Return to Penzance along busy coast road through Long Rock & Eastern Green. Great care required at all roundabouts.
