Marazion Goldsithney Porthleven Helston Godolphin ride

Ride Description: 

Here is a full day's ride with a few strenuous sections, but great scenic variation of countryside and seaside. In addition to the inland back lanes,it takes in a brief stretch of the Coastal Path, the formal landscape of the Penrose Estate as well as the harbour town of Porthleven and Helston, forever associated with the Floral Dance! At one point, bikes will need to be carried up a short section of steps but refreshment opportunities are never far away, particularly at Porthleven and Helston.

Route Instructions and details: 

Start: Marazion.

Proceed eastward up through town to major roundabout. Straight ahead to Goldsithney.

Take first right after village for Millpool. Continue straight ahead through Millpool and turn right into Bal Lane. Climb steadily for approx. 1 mile to junction at Great Works where turn right to Ashton (on A394).

Turn left and in 20 yds turn right signed Rinsey. Bear left after 1/2 mile to Porthleven. Turn right around Harbour side, along cobbled
section to clock tower. Bear left up hill and follow signs for Loe Bar to small car park. Carry/push bikes up zig-zag steps.

Continue along cliff track to NT Lodge and gateway through to Penrose Estate. Follow roads and tracks to Helston.

Make your way via main street of Helston and head for Redruth via B3297. On the outskirts of Helston take left turn for Lowertown.
Descend , begin climb and take left turn to Gwavas (not signed). Continue to next junction, bear right and shortly after bear left
signed Sithney Church. Descend hill and take right turning at crossroads after stream (no sign). Continue up easy gradient with Estate wall on your right. At Estate Lodge turn left up steep hill to main road, B3303. Turn right and in 50 yds turn left into lane (‘No Entry’ for cars). Continue to B3302, turn right and in 200 yds turn left signed Carleen.

Take first right (not signed). Keep right at next junction. Turn left at next junction signed Godolphin. At Godolphin (Cross) straight ahead at
crossroads. Steady climb for 1/2 mile to Great Work. Return via Millpool and Goldsithney as per outward route.
